Olena Kasperovych, curator based in Kharkiv, Ukraine. As curatorial research has been working on the topics of identities perceptions, migration of plants in cultural perspectives: about understanding of local and foreign, adaptation, movement and migration. Initiated and curates international artists residency in contemporary art centre YermilovCentre in Kharkiv. As independent curator Olena has produced several exhibition projects which were shown in Kharkiv, Dnipro, Poznan and Liverpool. Olena was a SWAP:UK/Ukraine resident at the Liverpool Biennial in 2018. She participated in the curatorial research residency Odyssée Programme from the Ministry of Culture of France in 2019. In 2020 Olena received the Gaude Polonia scholarship for young artists and curators from the Ministry of Culture of Poland. In 2021 Olena was invited curator for contemporary art festival Pixxelpoint in Slovenia, where her exhibition “Deep Deep Forest” dedicated to the appropriation of nature. Co-founded an NGO Cultural Traffic for artistic researches in movement and support of Ukrainian artists.
With a full scale war in 2022 Olena had to evacuate to the Western part of Ukraine where she created a pop-up residency for the Ukrainian artists who stay in Ukraine. Later that year Olena was invited by Jam Factory Art Center to build an integration program for Ukrainian artists displaced to Lviv, the program was released in 2 editions supported 28 artists. In 2023 Olena co-curated an exhibition “Dialogues” at the Bluecoat Art Centre (a parallel programme of Eurovision 2023, Liverpool, UK). Since August 2023 Olena is a producer of Ukrainian National Pavilion at 60th Venice Biennial, preparing “Net Making” project about the collective action and horizontal activities in the communities.
